A first look at Doc Ock, ''Spider-Man 2'''s villain -- Sony releases the first image of Alfred Molina as the multiarmed baddie
The Green Goblin must be, um, even greener with envy. It’s a new ”Spider-Man” bad guy’s turn in the spotlight, as Sony Pictures releases the first image of Alfred Molina in the guise of Doc Ock. In ”Spider-Man 2,” Molina plays Otto Octavius, a scientist who accidentally attaches four powerful metal arms to himself. In the image released by Sony, a sleek, trench-coated Molina (”Frida”) looks svelter and younger than the paunchy comic-book Dr. Octopus, suggesting a makeover by ”Queer Eye for the Supervillain Guy.”
”Spider-Man 2,” due next July 2, also includes returning stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. In the movie, Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson will fall for John Jameson (Daniel Gillies), a hottie astronaut who happens to be the son of Spidey-hater J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons). Rosemary Harris also returns as Peter Parker’s loving Aunt May. Sadly, Sam Raimi tells USA Today there are no plans to emulate the comic book plot that had May falling in love with Otto Octavius — maybe because he’s now too young for her.
