A ”Sopranos” writer will spend the summer hanging with 50 Cent on tour, but that doesn’t mean Tony’s planning a career in hip-hop. Taking a cue from mentor Eminem’s ”8 Mile,” 50 Cent has hired screenwriter Terry Winter to pen a movie based on his eventful, bullet-strewn life, according to an Interscope Records spokesperson. Winter will use his time on the tour to research the script, which will presumably chronicle 50’s rise from drug-dealing to stardom — a journey that was almost derailed by a near-fatal shooting. There’s no studio or director attached to the project, according to Interscope.

Earlier this year, the multiplatinum rapper signed a deal to write his autobiography for MTV Books; it’s unclear how the projects are related. In any case, interest in 50 Cent remains high — his album, ”Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” remains in the top 10 after 18 weeks. And hey, if there’s a part in that movie for the plucky white rapper who helps the star break through to the mainstream, we have a casting idea.
