P. Diddy designs his own SUV. Lincoln will make only 100 of the Limited Edition Sean John Navigators

He designs clothes, so why not cars? Sean ”P. Diddy” Combs is teaming with Lincoln to release a limited-edition custom version of its Navigator SUV. The carmaker will sell only 100 of the Sean John Navigators, which will retail for $85,000, about $30,000 above the usual list price. The cars go on sale July 1.

For that extra 30-large, a Sean John Navigator comes with such features as tinted windows, black chrome detailing, a Pioneer Premier Audio system with satellite radio, three DVD players, six TV monitors, a Playstation 2, logo-embossed leather seats, heated/vibrating driver and front passenger seats, and black wood interior. It’s not clear if P. Diddy came up with all these design elements himself or just sampled them from other vehicles.

Combs showed off a prototype at the MTV Movie Awards a couple weeks ago, but his fondness for Lincoln Navigators made bigger headlines in 1999 during the notorious shooting incident at a Manhattan nightclub, after which Combs’ driver allegedly fled from police in the rap mogul’s Navigator. (Combs and the driver were ultimately acquitted in charges stemming from the incident; Combs’ other passenger, then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, was not charged with a crime.) A Lincoln spokesman told USA Today that the carmaker wasn’t worried that the association with the shooting would taint the brand or hurt sales. In fact, marketing consultant Dan Gorrell told the paper, ”it might add some allure and cachet.”

When he’s not designing cars and clothes or hosting MTV’s ”Making the Band,” P. Diddy does still run a record label. Bad Boy’s next release, aptly, will be the soundtrack to the July movie ”Bad Boys II.” He himself appears on two tracks recorded with Nelly and Murphy Lee of Nelly’s St. Lunatics.
