North Carolina safety officials are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Friday night during a concert featuring Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Charlotte’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. According to the Charlotte Observer, 26-year-old Ashley Faris was electrocuted when he walked barefoot on a wet concrete stairway. Passerby Ryan Robards, 23, who tried to help Faris, was also shocked and was hospitalized overnight.

The accident occurred around 9:30, after Snoop’s set and before the Chili Peppers took the stage. Police told the Oberver that Faris was shocked while walking on a rainswept, metal-edged stairway between the lawn seats and the concession area. The concert proceeded uninterrupted, with many fans unaware that anyone had been injured. Venue patron Verizon Wireless issued a statement, saying, ”We are working with local authorities and investigators to determine how the incident took place. The Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre extends heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of the individuals involved in this unfortunate incident.”
