Brittany Murphy is an army of one. The busy actress has just enlisted in two projects for Warner Bros., according to the Hollywood Reporter. The first is the comedy ”Major Movie Star,” in which she’d play a pampered pop singer who so desperately wants to star in an upcoming combat film that she joins the Army. (Think ”Legally Blonde” in combat boots, the studio says. Think of a gentile ”Private Benjamin,” we say.)

After that, she’ll march on to ”Happy Feet,” a computer-animated kids’ movie from director George Miller (”Babe”). Like ”Major,” ”Feet” will also require the ”8 Mile” actress to sing. In this story, set in Antarctica, she’ll play the love interest of a penguin named Mumbles (Elijah Wood). Before both projects, however, comes the shooting in August of the romantic comedy ”Little Black Book” and the release that same month of her comedy ”Uptown Girls.”
