MOVIES Here comes Peter Cottontail, hoppin’ down the bunny trail. And there’s Cate Blanchett behind him! The Lord of the Rings beauty is in talks to star opposite a computer-animated Peter Rabbit in Miss Potter, a biopic of Beatrix Potter…. Bend It Like Beckham’s Keira Knightley will brave it with Bruckheimer as Guinevere in the Jerry-produced King Arthur…. Nicolas Cage (Con Air) is getting ready to roll as a testy cop in Dead to Rights, a movie version of the exciting videogame…. John Travolta (Look Who’s Talking Now!) will play The Punisher’s nemesis (planned for summer ’04)…. We love a good pun, so we’re thrilled about Soul Plane, a comedy in the Airplane! vein starring Method Man (How High) and Snoop Dogg (The Real Cancun)…. There must be 50 ways to follow up her role in Kissing Jessica Stein, and Jennifer Westfeldt has settled on an indie comedy called 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.

TELEVISION Songstress Macy Gray is becoming a cartoon version of her former self: She has a deal with Warner Bros. Animation to develop, voice, and compose music for a TV ‘toon series based on her childhood in Ohio…. Funnyman Billy Crystal signed a three-year deal to write, develop, produce, direct, and just generally do stuff for HBO.

STAGE The show will go on for the late Robert Stack (see Legacy, page 22), who makes his Broadway debut this summer in Little Shop of Horrors; he recorded a voice-over for the musical this past April.

BOOKS The granddaughter of Harold Lloyd has a deal for Hollywood Nudes in 3-D, featuring the silent-film star’s girlie pics (never-before-seen shots of Bettie Page!) and a pair of 3-D specs. Take that, Charlie Chaplin!
