Will Hillary tell all to Barbara Walters?
Will Hillary tell all to Barbara Walters? The ''20/20'' anchor will chat up the former first lady about the secrets in her forthcoming memoir
Will Barbara Walters make Hillary Clinton cry? Will Clinton tell Walters how she really felt about Monica? Will Walters and Clinton trade cookie recipes? Who knows, but anything could happen when the ”20/20” anchor interviews the former First Lady during an ABC news special airing on Sun., June 8. The occasion is the launch of the New York senator’s book tour to promote her memoir, ”Living History,” which hits stores the next day. The book is reportedly a tell-all, and Clinton has set no restrictions on what Walters may ask her, a Clinton spokeswoman told the Associated Press.
Media insiders considered Clinton a big ”get,” a coveted interview subject who would be the object of heated competition among such TV personalities as Walters, Diane Sawyer, Oprah Winfrey, Katie Couric, and the ”60 Minutes” crew. But Sawyer (like Clinton, a Wellesley alumna) took herself out of the competition, citing other commitments, and so did ”60 Minutes,” since the author’s husband is now a paid commentator on the show in his mini-debates with 1996 presidential opponent Bob Dole. Clinton’s spokeswoman said the senator chose Walters because the interview she did with the then-First Lady on the eve of the publication of ”It Takes a Village” had been a pleasant experience and a sales booster. Apparently, Clinton didn’t hold it against Walters that she also conducted a splashy interview with Monica Lewinsky after the impeachment scandal.
