Apple gets down with music fans -- to the tune of millions.

More than 1 million songs were downloaded — and, for a change, paid for! — during the opening week of Apple’s iTunes Music Store. ”The goal was to do a million a month,” says Tom Whalley, chair/CEO of Warner Bros. Records. ”They thought that would take a couple months.” More than half the downloads were complete albums, and the week’s most popular single was an acoustic version of U2’s ”Stuck in a Moment….” But the control-freaky computer company hasn’t yet released any more specific sales data about its 200,000-plus song library. So here’s a little perspective…

2.5 million People sharing copies of the 50 Cent single ”21 Questions” on unauthorized file-trading networks during the week of the iTunes Music Store launch
