Depp, Turturro will star in Stephen King chiller. They'll team up for the ''Misery''-like ''Secret Window, Secret Garden''
To be a writer is to be tormented — literally, if you’re a writer in a Stephen King tale. That’s the case in ”Misery” and in ”Secret Window, Secret Garden,” which is soon to be a movie starring Johnny Depp and John Turturro, according to the Hollywood Reporter. In the Columbia film, which is expected to shoot in July, Depp plays an author going through a bitter divorce, who is confronted by a psychotic (Turturro) who claims that the author stole his story and and changed the ending. Maria Bello (”ER”) and Timothy Hutton are in talks to join the cast (as Depp’s ex-wife and her new boyfriend), as is Ving Rhames, as a detective Depp hires to get the goods on Turturro.
It’s not the first time Depp has played a troubled author or collaborated with Turturro. Depp did dramatic readings as Jack Kerouac in 1999’s ”The Source,” a documentary about the Beat writers; Turturro read as Allen Ginsberg in that film. Both actors also costarred with Christina Ricci and Cate Blanchett in the 2000 indie costume drama ”The Man Who Cried.”
