If Celine Dion can take over Las Vegas, why can’t Elvis Presley take over Broadway? Launch.com reports that plans are underway to bring ”Can’t Help Falling in Love,” a musical built around 20 Elvis hits, to the Broadway stage, after an off-Broadway reading held Monday. Plot details are harder to come by than low-fat peanut butter in the King’s kitchen, but songs are said to include ”Heartbreak Hotel,” ”Love Me Tender,” and ”Blue Suede Shoes,” as well as the title number.

”Cant Help…” follows the now-well-worn path of nostalgic pop catalogs to Broadway book musicals blazed by ”Mamma Mia!” (ABBA) and ”Movin’ Out” (Billy Joel). Other shows coming include ”Dream a Little Dream” (The Mamas & the Papas) and musicals based on songs by the Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, and the Bee Gees. Let us know when they get to the Ramones.
