GIMME FIVE Choice cuts for your mix tape

”Cherry Bomb,” ASH (from Free All Angels) Almost as good as the Runaways’ song of the same name.

”F — – the Pain Away,” PEACHES (from The Teaches of Peaches) Absolutely no redeeming social value to be found here, but it sure sounds good.

”Superstar II,” SALIVA (from Back Into Your System) Not rap-metal, not nu-metal, just metal.

”Melody,” DAVID JOHANSEN (from 1979’s In Style) ”Certain songs, I just can’t take it/Start to play, my heart starts breakin’,” sings David Jo. This is one of those certain songs.

”Oranges,” ROCKFOUR (from Another Beginning) Psychedelic folk-rock from Israel — well, all right!
