Barbershop, an amiable comedy with an inconsequential plot, follows Calvin (Ice Cube), a third-generation cutter, trying to get his shop back from a hustler. But the true entertainment comes from watching the sprawling crowd of sharply drawn regulars bicker and razz in this charming ”Cheers” of hair care, where everybody knows your mane. Oh, and Al Sharpton didn’t get his wish: Cedric the Entertainer’s crackpot cracks about Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks remain intact, although they’re not as funny as Sharpton’s reactionary demand that they be cut.
