”The Will” is one of 2003’s wildest new reality shows

#2

PREMIERE Summer 2003

WHAT IT IS Why wait for Grandpa to die before you start fighting over his stuff? This more-than-morbid premise gets family members competing game-show style for their inheritance — as their wealthy still-living relative judges their efforts. (ABC is currently mulling over contestants with a million or more to bequeath to loved ones.) Producer Mike Fleiss (”The Bachelor”) insists that the final will and testament will be really final: ”I’ll probably spend a few thousand hours talking to lawyers, but we’re going to make sure the victory sticks,” he says. Why didn’t Anna Nicole’s late hubby think of this?

WHY WE CARE Anyone who’s ever watched cousins fight to the death over the Thanksgiving wishbone will appreciate this good, gruesome fun. With more than a million bucks at stake, expect even the most dignified family to spew venom over long-repressed resentments while attempting to shamelessly kiss butt.
