Many thought Aaliyah was just a sleek marionette for producers R. Kelly and Timbaland. But these hits and unreleased cuts prove she was a muse in her own right. ”Try Again” and ”One in a Million” still sound like pop/R&B futurism. And a new batch of silken slow jams is a further reminder of her interpretive talent — and our loss.
