BIRTHS Extreme Ops’ Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, 29, and her hubby, tennis pro Pete Sampras, 31, welcomed their first child, Christian Charles, on Nov. 21.

ENGAGED On the pretaped Nov. 20 finale of ABC’s The Bachelor, school psychologist Helene Eksterowicz, 27, agreed to wed Missouri banker Aaron Buerge, 28. But Buerge said the next day on Good Morning America that they would take their ”sweet time” setting a date, while Eksterowicz noted she has no plans to move from New Jersey to Missouri ”in real life.” At least one romance expert is pessimistic. ”The only thing Aaron and Helene have in common is this desire for 15 minutes of fame,” says Dr. Joyce Brothers. ”I hold very little hope.”

SPLITS On Nov. 25, Nicolas Cage (Adaptation), 38, filed for divorce from rock princess Lisa Marie Presley, 34. They were married in August. Both declined to comment. Cage divorced Patricia Arquette in 2000; Presley was previously wed to musician Danny Keough and to Michael Jackson.

AILING On Nov. 21, Happy Gilmore grandma Frances Bay, 83, was hit by a car in Glendale, Calif. As a result, her right leg was amputated below the knee. At press time, Bay’s condition was critical and no charges had been filed against the teen driver.

COURTS On Nov. 20, Bo Derek, 46, was sued by Wayne, Pa., animal shelter Main Line Rescue, which claims she was a no-show at a September 2001 fund-raiser. It seeks $21,000 in unreturned fees and expenses, plus $50,000 in damages. Derek’s reps hadn’t seen the suit and wouldn’t comment…. Britney Spears, 21, has ”severed all involvement” with Nyla, her five-month-old NYC eatery. The Nov. 25 statement came as three restaurant suppliers filed papers seeking payments. Nyla reps could not be reached…. On Nov. 21, songwriters Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, and Jack Tempchin settled with Warner Music (a division of EW parent AOL Time Warner) over work on the Eagles’ smash 1976 greatest-hits album. Terms weren’t disclosed. They’d sued for $10 million-plus in royalties.

ARRESTS Rapper-actress Queen Latifah (nee Dana Owens), 32, was charged with drunken driving on Nov. 20 in L.A. Her rep had no comment.

DEATHS Actor-comic Jackie Gayle (Broadway Danny Rose), 76, during open-heart surgery, Nov. 23, in Miami Beach…. Parley Baer, 88, Mayberry’s mayor on The Andy Griffith Show, of a stroke, Nov. 22, in Woodland Hills, Calif. He also voiced the elf in ads for Keebler cookies…. Chart-topping torch singer Hadda Brooks (1947’s ”That’s My Desire”), 86, hailed as Queen of the Boogie, after heart surgery, Nov. 21, in L.A…. Buddy Kaye, 84, who penned Perry Como’s ”Till the End of Time” and cowrote the I Dream of Jeannie theme, of a heart attack, Nov. 21, in Rancho Mirage, Calif…. Film exec Marvin Mirisch, 84, of a heart attack, Nov. 17, in L.A.
