BOX OFFICE
‘CHAMBER’ MUSIC
Harry potter and the Chamber of Secrets conjured up the third-biggest three-day opening ever (trailing Spider-Man’s $114.8 million and the first Harry’s $90.3 million), generating a powerful per-site average of nearly $24,000. Last week’s champ fell about 8 Mile, dropping 62 percent; with the new James Bond and Ice Cube poised to hit multiplexes, Eminem is likely to see further erosion of his audience. A number of smaller films fared well, especially Far From Heaven and a trio of Latin-themed movies — Frida, Real Women Have Curves, and El Crimen del Padre Amaro. Arriba!
