(PS2; Konami; Teen) Anyone who battled the vile Red Falcon of 15 years ago will find this Contra-verse a glorious return to the power of two: two sides, good and evil. Guess which side you’re on? Don’t think too hard — just blast your way through level after level of delightfully preposterous H.R. Giger carnage (e.g., a giant, acid-vomiting eel). The 3-D rendering makes it difficult to eyeball your soldier in the side-scrolling melee. But the game that captured the sensibilities of the Reagan era still feels right at home in the Bush administration.
