Queen Latifah, who plays a prison matron in next month’s movie musical ”Chicago,” had a brief real-life behind-bars experience Wednesday after she was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of drunk driving, CNN reports. California Highway Patrol officer Alex Delgadillo told the press that the 32-year-old rapper/actress (real name: Dana Owens) was pulled over on the Hollywood Freeway at 3:15 a.m. after officers spotted her allegedly making an unsafe lane change. Delgadillo said the actress failed a field sobriety test and was booked and later released on $2,500 bail. She’s due in court to answer the charge of driving under the influence on Dec. 12.

The arrest was not the Grammy-winning performer’s first brush with the law. In 1996, in Los Angeles, she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge when police found a gun in her car after stopping her for speeding.

Various media outlets, including the Associated Press, MTV News, and Launch.com, contacted Queen Latifah’s publicist on Wednesday seeking a comment on the DUI arrest, but the publicist said only that a formal statement would be forthcoming.
