Here's what the cast of ''Friends'' is up to this week
- TV Show
FROM PRETTY TO GRITTY This week, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston both started shooting movies that could add some edge to their well-scrubbed personas. In Los Angeles, Kudrow went before the cameras in ”Wonderland,” a true-life tale of porn, drugs, and murder, in which she plays the wife of legendary porn actor John Holmes (Val Kilmer). The modestly budgeted movie also features such indie-cred actors as Janeane Garofalo, Tim Blake Nelson, Eric Bogosian, and Natasha Gregson Wagner. Meanwhile, on New York’s Lower East Side, Aniston started work on an untitled romantic comedy opposite Ben Stiller, in which she plays a free-spirited, funky Bohemian who entices straight-arrow Stiller away from his wife (Debra Messing). None of the other ”Friends” stars went for a similar cinematic walk on the wild side this week, though Matthew Perry did brave the metal detectors and Eminem’s phalanx of bodyguards to attend the Hollywood premiere of ”8 Mile.”
BABY TALKActually, Aniston knows something about the rough ways of New York street life from personal experience. ”I was a bike messenger in New York for about three months,” she told People magazine this week. ”I wasn’t the most coordinated person on the bike, with the cars and everything, but I loved it. I thought I looked cool. I didn’t do it very well, though. I got fired.” Aniston also told People that, no, she’s not about to follow her TV character into the maternity ward, at least not until after the series ends next spring. ”When ‘Friends’ is over, I’ll think about having a baby more seriously. Right now I want to finish that chapter of my life and then move on,” she said. ”The good news is that because of Rachel having a baby, I’ve read all the books. By the time I have a baby, I’ll be a diapering pro.”
