TARTT POPS

The little friend reintroduces an old friend to the best-seller chart this week. Donna Tartt hit the big time 10 years ago with the huge-selling The Secret History, one of the most successful debut novels in recent history, and now she’s ba-a-ack, this time at No. 6, with a second creepy novel. An even more reliable bookseller, Pat Conroy, is watching his My Losing Season (see review, this page) come out a winner in nonfiction. True to form, the basketball book goes vertical in its second week, to No. 2.
