Tori Spelling follows Jennie Garth into the New York PR biz.

Great minds apparently think alike, especially when they’re both former stars of ”Beverly Hills, 90210.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tori Spelling has signed on with NBC to develop a sitcom about a young publicist working in New York City. The idea for the untitled show is her own, according to the Reporter, and it must be a good one, since a similar idea is working so well for Spelling’s former costar, Jennie Garth. On the WB’s new hit ”What I Like About You,” Garth plays a young publicist working in New York City — only she is also saddled with a teenage sister, played by Amanda Bynes.

No word on whether the Spelling sitcom will also include a kid sister. However, it will include lots of slapstick, which producer Vivian Cannon says is Spelling’s strong suit. As a low-level employee at a corporate public relations firm who gets stuck with the company’s least prestigious accounts, Spelling ”will be going into all different kinds of environments week to week, and it provides a lot of room for her to do physical comedy,” Cannon says.
