PUT ON SHOUT Used to describe the act of making public another’s personal actions — i.e., gossiping. Heard in The Real World: Las Vegas after Arissa learned that roomie Irulan had mouthed off about Arissa’s hooking up with a third Real Worlder, the inexplicably irresistible Steven. After being accused of putting Arissa’s ”s — – on shout,” Irulan defended herself by announcing ”I am not the type of person who puts people on shout.” Possibly derived from the universally loathed act of placing incoming callers on speakerphone, thereby allowing any bystanders to hear what might be intended as a private conversation.
