The Bootleg Series Volume 5: Live 1975--The Rolling Thunder Revue

Most people’s opinion of Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue is based on Hard Rain, the underrated live album documenting the 1976 leg of his all-star tour. But connoisseurs have long claimed that recordings from Dylan’s 1975 jaunt are the real treasure trove. Soon you’ll be able to judge for yourself — without having to track down expensive bootlegs. The two-CD Bootleg Series, Vol. 5 — Bob Dylan Live 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue, due out Nov. 26 from Columbia Legacy, compiles the best performances from early Rolling Thunder stops in Montreal and Boston, Worcester, and Cambridge, Mass. (Also included is a two-track DVD with live footage from the 1978 film Renaldo and Clara.) ”We look at all our opportunities from Bob’s catalog, and this one has fantastic recordings, great photography,” says Jeff Jones, senior VP of Legacy Recordings. ”People will be really pleased. The music is remarkable.” Pardon us while we wipe our drool off the keyboard.
