An anthology of women’s breakup letters inspired by former EW staffer Holmes’ own experience with the ole heave-ho, Hell unites voices as disparate as 12th-century French nun Heloise and Sex and the City writer-exec producer Cindy Chupack. Some entries are hilarious in their bluntness (”You have B.O. even after a shower,” disses one Lola Fondue to her ex), and many are heartbreaking, but few are more touching than Zelda Fitzgerald’s pledge to F. Scott, penned from a psychiatric ward: ”I love you anyway — even if there isn’t any me or any love or even any life — I love you.”
