LIFE IN THE FAST ‘LANES’

Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Affleck collided at the top of the rental chart this week, with Changing Lanes premiering at No. 1. That’s a pretty impressive debut considering that the revenge thriller paints a rather unflattering picture of New York City — and that it hit video in time for the Sept. 11 anniversary. Lanes’ success suggests that renters are once again ready for movies set in a Manhattan that’s more Wall Street than Miracle on 34th Street.
