ENGAGED Ex-Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, 39, has proposed to singer-dancer Mayte Garcia, 28; his rep says no date has been set. He was formerly married to stripper Candice Starrek, and actresses Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson (with whom he has two kids). Garcia and ex-hubby Prince split in 2000.

WEDDINGS Inspired, perhaps, by Honeymoon in Vegas’ flying Elvises, Nicolas Cage, 38, wed Lisa Marie Presley, 34, Aug. 10 in Kohala Coast, Hawaii. Cage’s marriage to Patricia Arquette ended in 2001; the King’s little girl was previously married to musician Danny Keough and to Michael Jackson.

AILING At press time, Beverly Hills, 90210 grad Jason Priestley, 33, was in serious but stable condition after crashing his race car into a wall at nearly 180 mph at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky., Aug. 11. He suffered a concussion and a fractured vertebra but is expected to fully recover, says his Kentucky doctor…. Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas (Basic Instinct), 57, announced Aug. 9 that he was previously diagnosed with throat cancer after years of smoking. Eszterhas had a cancerous portion of his larynx removed 18 months ago and is now cancer-free, says a spokeswoman for the Cleveland hospital where he was treated…. A spokesman for Charlie’s Angels alum Jaclyn Smith, 56, wouldn’t comment on reports that the actress recently underwent a lumpectomy and radiation treatment for breast cancer, saying his client’s ”in perfect health.”… In an Aug. 9 video statement, Oscar winner Charlton Heston, 78, said he is suffering symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. The NRA prez, who intends to keep working, said that he is ”neither giving up nor giving in.”

ARRESTS On Aug. 13, wrestler ”Stone Cold” Steve Austin (ne Steve Williams), 35, surrendered to Bexar County, Tex., authorities on misdemeanor assault charges stemming from a June 15 incident in which he allegedly struck his wife, Debra Williams, 42, also a WWE personality. Austin was freed on $5,000 bond; his lawyer could not be reached at press time.

COURTS On Aug. 7, Glow Industries, a beauty-products company, sued Jennifer Lopez, 32, for unspecified damages, claiming her pact with Coty Inc. to begin marketing Glow by J. Lo perfume Sept. 1 will ”confuse and deceive” consumers. Reps for J. Lo and Coty declined to comment…. Screenwriter Gwen O’Donnell, 34, filed a $30 million suit Aug. 7, claiming HBO’s Emmy darling Six Feet Under is ”a blatant rip-off” of O’Donnell’s 1998 screenplay, The Funk Parlor. A rep for HBO (a division of EW parent AOL Time Warner) said the plaintiffs ”don’t know what they’re talking about.” A judge dismissed a similar Six Feet suit last year.

DEATHS Guitarist Michael Houser, 40, who cofounded the blues-rock cult band Widespread Panic in 1982, of pancreatic cancer, Aug. 10, in Athens, Ga…. Matt Robinson, 65, who first played Gordon on Sesame Street, of complications from Parkinson’s disease, Aug. 5, in L.A. The father of actress Holly Robinson Peete (The WB’s For Your Love) also served as a writer and producer of The Cosby Show.
