Country star Toby Keith’s unique marketing campaign for his new CD largely consisted of blitzing the media with the assertion that Peter Jennings banned his America-kicks-ass anthem “Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue” from a July 4 special (an allegation Jennings denies). Keith’s flag-waving and Canuck- bashing paid off: His Unleashed sold 338,000 copies for a No. 1 bow. Debuting at No. 2 with 288,000 sold was the 10th edition of the NOW series, uniting Enrique and Moby on one disc at last. Entering in the sixth slot, Lil’ Wayne charmed 141,000 fans with lil’ ditties like “Gangsta S—” and “F— You,” ensuring that rap as well as country fans were proud to be Americans this week.
