HOMETOWN Monroe, La.

AGE 28

RECENT RELEASE ”Freedom” (July 2002)

WHY HIM In memory of his singer/songwriter brother Mason (who died of a heart attack in 1991), Griggs taught himself to play his brother’s songs on the guitar. Ten years later, he has released two albums (his first was 1999’s ”You Won’t Ever Be Lonely”) and has already scored five Top 10 hits. One of his brother’s songs is included on ”Freedom.”

WHAT’S HOT He may sing like Travis Tritt, but in blond highlights, crisp white shirts, and leather pants, he looks more like Brad Pitt.

WHAT’S NOT The faux facial scruff, like his attempts at ”outlaw” music, misses the mark. He’s a lover, not a fighter.

WHAT’S NEXT He’s not quite a headliner yet, so look for him to make appearances on both the Kenny Chesney and Brooks & Dunn tours later this year.
