Maybe he was on his way to an urgent hemp rally. Woody Harrelson was arrested early Thursday morning after a chase involving two London taxis, police told Reuters. Harrelson allegedly broke an ashtray and a door handle in one cab, then fled in another, with the first taxi in pursuit, before police caught up with him.

British newspaper The Guardian reported that Harrelson was on his way back to his London hotel from the China White nightclub at around 2 a.m. Thursday when he allegedly began vandalizing the cab. ”I turned round and he was kicking the inside of my taxi. He had suddenly gone completely bonkers,” driver Les Dartnell told London newspaper The Sun. ”He was kicking the glass and trying to get out. I tried to find a space to pull over but he had already yanked back the door and broken it.”

When Harrelson hopped into another taxi, Dartnell gave chase. ”It was like something out of Hollywood. I stayed hot on the tail of the taxi and knew the police were on their way.” Police eventually intercepted the second cab in Sloane Square in west London. Harrelson jumped out, and police chased the 40-year-old actor on foot and arrested him. Scotland Yard said that the actor was released on bail and must return to court on July 1 to be arraigned.
