Late Marriage

Dover Kosashvili’s potent debut feature Late Marriage is set among Georgian immigrants in Israel, where a jaded 31-year-old student (Lior Ashkenazi) trails his parents to matchmaking dates while carrying on a tempestuous romance with an older Moroccan divorcee. The sexual connection between the pair, while striking in its realism, is no more astonishing than the relaxed way that Kosashvili balances comedy and misery.
