We’ve waited nine years for this? Okay, that’s a little unfair; no album could live up to nearly a decade of anticipation. Still, this follow-up to 1993’s Last Splash feels like a half measure. TK starts strong, with the Deal sisters’ familiar, uncluttered arrangements and Steve Albini’s trademark drum sound instantly evoking past glory. But the thrill evaporates as one monotonous tune drones into the next, making TK seem a lot longer than its 38 minutes.
