SPIDER-MAN (VHS, $5; DVD, $10) AVAILABILITY Just two days after opening, on NYC sidewalks. PACKAGING The DVD case features ”Kristin [sic] Dunst,” Cats & Dogs credits, and promised commentary from A Knight’s Tale director Brian Helgeland. CONSUMER REPORT Shot with a camcorder from an oblique angle, the result is fun-house-mirror distortion. Faded colors make Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin look more like the Silver Surfer, while the echoey sound is punctuated by audience laughter. The VHS — an inferior dub of the same taping — cuts off during the wrestling scene. The DVD lasts until the closing credits, when it startlingly jumps into two minutes of The Fellowship of the Ring. Now that’s a bonus feature.
