A smug lawyer (Ben Affleck) in need of comeuppance tangles in a fender bender with a recovering alcoholic drone (Samuel L. Jackson) addicted to chaos in this twisty sin-and-salvation homily staged as a thriller with a documentary look. It’s a teasing drama — set, lest anyone miss the point, on Good Friday — with relentless good deed/bad deed reversals that are just interesting enough to make a sinner pray for an even more interesting, less obviously cross-shaped creation.
