REEL DEALS Don’t expect raunchy hobbit sex scenes, but a more explicit and probably R-rated extended version of ”The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” is set for DVD release on November 12. The new version will add 30 minutes of unseen footage to the already-lengthy fantasy epic, some of which will be violent enough to merit a more restrictive rating than the film’s original PG-13, according to New Line Home Entertainment. The original version of the movie will see a separate DVD release on August 6; it will include a 10-minute ”behind-the-scenes preview” of the sequel “,” due in theaters December 18….

Will Smith, who’s in talks to star in the second version of the vampire tale ”I Am Legend,” has agreed to produce and possibly star in another remake, according to Variety. The ”Ali” star has signed on to produce a new version of ”Uptown Saturday Night,” the 1974 comedy starring Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby, but hasn’t yet agreed to appear in the film. The original movie told the tale of two friends who try to track down the criminals who ripped off their winning lottery ticket….

In other, stranger remake news, Paramount Pictures is planning to make a big-screen version of the classic sitcom ”The Honeymooners,” according to Variety. The weird part: they intend to set it in the present day. ”Mad About You” co-creator and former ”Roseanne” writer Danny Jacobson will tackle the script. John Goodman, call your agent….

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Brittany Murphy and Rosario Dawson are in talks to appear in a new Spike Lee movie, ”The 25th Hour,” which follows a convicted drug dealer’s last day before beginning a prison term, according to Variety….

Glenn Close and Danny DeVito have signed on for the newest Woody Allen project, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It’s the same project that’s set to include Christina Ricci and Jason Biggs, and it looks like Close will play Ricci’s mom.
