Looks like ordinary wax may be waning. According to vegan candlemaker Jennifer Brown-Owan, burning candles made from petroleum-based paraffin can be hazardous to your health. The news inspired Brown-Owan to create Jenni Originals, a line of biodegradable votives and pillars (jennioriginals.com or call 1-877-95-JENNI, $1.99 to $52) that has fast become a favorite of health-conscious celebs. Fans include Alicia Silverstone, Renee Zellweger, and Jada Pinkett Smith. ”I started blending all sorts of foods — soy and vegetable — until I found a perfect blend,” says Brown-Owan, whose candles illuminated the nuptials of Kathy Griffin, Brooke Shields, and Keenan Ivory Wayans. Not surprisingly, Jennis are also the gift-basket item du jour: They were among the favors at the SAG Awards and will make an encore appearance in Oscar-night hampers. Smmmokin’.
