They’re from the South. They rap fast. And they have a zany sense of humor. But that doesn’t make Nappy Roots just a cheap imitation of OutKast. While that popular Atlanta act leans toward mother-ship funk, this Kentucky-based sextet has more soul. They’ve also got their own melodies, rap inflections, and regionally endorsed lyrical obsession: food. Revolutionary it’s not. But for fun, it hits the spot.
