For anyone who’s stumbled onto the Boston busker’s intimate street performances, Live: City Sounds is the album you’ve been waiting for. Where her 1998 major-label disc polished Lord into anonymity, this live, (mostly) covers CD — recorded in the Boston subway — captures her at her best, tapping a repertoire that includes tunes by Big Star, Magnetic Fields, and Bob Dylan. Highlights: a pair of motorcycle odes by Richard Thompson and Daniel Johnston, and a languid take on Springsteen’s ”Thunder Road” that recasts it as the daydream it probably always was.
