The soundtrack to this teen comedy is a fine Baedeker of Southern California rock. O.C. punk elder statesmen the Offspring show upstarts Crazy Town that it’s more about nuance than nooky; Hawthorne native Brian Wilson ladles out two servings of mascarpone pop, while Hollywood heartthrob Pete Yorn breaks all the young girls’ hearts with his quietly desperate heartache. Sorely missed: a laugh track from costar and erstwhile Tenacious D-er Jack Black.
