Taking their name from a Tim Buckley album and their torrid, crashing-waves melodies and tendency for falsetto vocals from his son Jeff, Starsailor are the latest U.K. choirboys to drag their sensitive souls over to these shores. Yet they’re more sensitive and gracefully shambolic than their peers Travis and Coldplay, thanks to overheated, self-absorbed singer James Walsh (”I need to be alone/while I suffer” is a typical line) and the tumbling, rustic-countryside beauty of their music. As much as you want to tell Walsh to calm down, this stirring debut, Love Is Here, wouldn’t be half as potent without him.
