Comedian Poundstone goes in and out of jail
Comedian Paula Poundstone spent several hours behind bars on Tuesday after she admitted to violating probation by taking drugs. Shortly after jailing Poundstone, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge sent her back to the live-in substance abuse treatment center where he’d sentenced her in October, when she pleaded no-contest to child endangerment charges.
”He jailed her to make a point,” says Jane Robison, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney. Poundstone is next due in court on Dec. 5, when she’s scheduled to be released from rehab. ”Rehab is never a smooth road,” Poundstone’s spokesperson, Allan Mayer tells EW.com. ”What’s important is you pick yourself up and keep moving along towards your rehabilitation, and that’s exactly what Paula’s doing.”
