”Taxi Driver changed my perspective on films…. The loneliness of Travis Bickle is really felt through the great acting by Robert De Niro and the filmmaking techniques used by Martin Scorsese. I bought the Criterion laserdisc of the movie. It’s like film school on disc — you get to hear the director talk about his influences and motivations. It changed my way of thinking, not my life. I would say that Scorsese was our first official indirect teacher. I would pattern much of our first movie [Menace II Society] off of this learning experience. But…Midnight Cowboy [is still] my favorite of all time because that affected me more emotionally than any other film.”
