The original rapscallion Adam (sinful charmer Townsend) plucks the heart of the ever-tempting Lucy (Hudson, with a competent Irish accent). He then proceeds to seduce both of her sisters — a bookish student and a bored housewife — because he ”likes to give people what they want.” Writer-director Gerard Stembridge refreshingly brings Dublin and its citizens into the present, shunning dour cityscapes and tweedy woolens for bright cafes and trendy clothes. But his happy, hugfest ending — as well as Hudson’s torch songs — feels distractingly too good to be true.
