The daughter of shipping magnate Arne Naess (and stepdaughter of Diana Ross) possesses a fetching, breathy voice and a knack for lilting melodic flourishes. But her earnest lyrics cross the line from introspection to solipsism, betraying little awareness of a world beyond her own wounded heart, and Martin Terefe’s mannered production doesn’t help. Still, the buoyant tunefulness of ”Mexico” and ”Serenade” makes it tough to dismiss Naess as a rich-kid dilettante.
