It used to be that the only music heard at a baseball game was the National Anthem—and, perhaps, a mangling of ”Take Me Out to the Ball Game” by a drunken fan. But lately, stadiums have trotted out more tunes than a wedding band. Consider last season’s monster hit, the Baha Men’s ”Who Let the Dogs Out,” which was unleashed in ballparks before it exploded on radio. Music has become so important that most major-league teams employ staffs to program everything from the 10-second snippets requested by players as they come up to bat to the mocking tunes heard when a visiting pitcher takes that long walk to the showers. Were there any break-out hits this summer? After nearly a full season here’s what we’ve found.
