Talk about a hole lotta love. Celebs from Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire to Leonardo DiCaprio and Shannen Doherty have been spotted crashing carbs at the Bagel Broker, a family-run yeastery in L.A.’s Fairfax district since 1987. Owner Jason Tarnol enticed studios with free samples 10 years ago; since then, his creations have sent Hollywood to leavened heaven. ”The press junkets for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and American Pie 2 just would not have BEEN without bagels from the Bagel Broker,” raves Carol McNamara, whose Joan’s on Third caters to Universal, Fox, and New Line. And on the set of The District, it’s practically a crime to run out of Broker’s chicken salad and cheese-onion bagels. Hollywood Stock Exchange system administrator Mark Luntzel even admits that a shortage of salt bagels once caused in-company fighting: ”I had to have people hide one for me.” Time to put lox on the door.
