THE CORRECTIONS Jonathan Franzen (FSG, $25, scheduled for Sept.) Scott Rudin (Angela’s Ashes, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay) optioned Franzen’s novel about three generations of an idiosyncratic Midwestern family.

THE NATURE OF WATER AND AIR Regina McBride (Scribner, $13) Gabriel Byrne bought the film rights to the first-time novelist’s coming-of-age tale set on the rugged shores of Ireland. Byrne and the author will write the screenplay together.

SHUTTERBABE: ADVENTURES IN LOVE AND WAR Deborah Copaken Kogan (Villard, $24.95) Darren Star, the man who brought Sex and the City to television, will bring a new sex symbol to Hollywood. Star optioned Kogan’s memoir about her experiences as a veteran photojournalist (lots of erotic interludes with smoldering European photographers to boot).
