Playing caricatures of their real-life personas — Joan Collins stars as a plastic-surgery-obsessed man-eater, MacLaine, a sneering spiritualist, and Debbie Reynolds, a married good girl — this gang of grandmas proves they’re the bawdiest biddies in Hollywood (sex jokes abound, and no subject — from menopause to rigor mortis — is sacred). The made-for-TV musical snipefest was cowritten by Reynolds’ daughter, Carrie Fisher, who takes thinly veiled jabs at her dad, Eddie Fisher — in 1959 he left Reynolds for Elizabeth Taylor, who’s here too, as the actresses’ pothead agent.
