It was slow for a while, with only Angelina Jolie’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider racking up on-screen deaths (eight of ’em, mostly due to gratuitous gunplay). Both Sexy Beast and The Fast and the Furious accumulated two murders each, while Baby Boy kept the fatalities to just one shooting on L.A.’s mean streets. Scary Movie 2 defied the trend of bloodier sequels by snuffing a mere five, 13 fewer than the original. But the corpses started to pile up with A.I. Artificial Intelligence, seven of whose eight deaths involved the grisly disassembly of humanlike robots. Finally, Jet Li’s Kiss of the Dragon kicked up the total 22 notches, including one stabbing with chopsticks. The new count: 359. Expect this month’s Jurassic Park III to make the tally ‘saur.
