BOW WOW

Cats & Dogs pulled off a major upset, clawing its way past the Wayans brothers’ Scary Movie 2 to become the weekend’s top dog–a nice $22 million bone for Warner Bros. The studio, however, has to be worrying about its other July pet, Steven Spielberg’s A.I., which suffered a 52 percent decline in week 2 and no longer seems certain to reach $100 million before the end of the summer. As for Dimension’s Scary 2, its $20.5 million bow was a far cry from the original’s $42.3 million opening last July. And finally, The Mummy Returns is poised to become the summer’s second $200 million hit.
