Good grooming isn’t exactly what comes to mind when describing Jack Black, one half of the musical act Tenacious D and the scruffy scene-stealer from High Fidelity and Saving Silverman. But then, Emily Dalton and Curran Dandurand weren’t channeling the celeb when they created Jack Black grooming products for men. The line, available at getjackblack. com, is filled with the sort of items the real Black, who stars opposite a porky Gwyneth Paltrow in the upcoming Farrelly brothers comedy Shallow Hal, would sooner eat than apply: stuff like Eye Balm Age Minimizing Gel and Face Buff Energizing Scrub. ”It was a complete coincidence,” swears Dalton. ”I had never heard of Jack Black. Literally, the month after we were shipping products I went to see High Fidelity and realized ‘That is Jack Black!”’ And what does the actor think of his namesake cosmetics? Black declined to comment. ”I’m not sure how into grooming products he is,” says Dalton. There goes that endorsement deal.
